Hair-raising commute to work after accident takes roof off bus

  • Posted

My commute to work is very tame compared to that endured by a number of commuters on a double decker-bus in Bristol during morning rush hour last week. Six of the passengers suffered head injuries when the top of the double-decker bus they were travelling in had the roof ripped off by branches. Those injured were initially treated in their seats before being transferred to hospital. None of the injuries suffered are thought to be life threatening, and it is believed that all those injured were adults.

But what a terrifying thing to happen, on your way to work on a Monday morning. Not a great way to start your working week!

One wonders why it happened, if presumably this was a route the bus took every day. Perhaps there was excessive rain or wind over the weekend which had caused the branches to drop? Perhaps there was a problem with the roof on this particular bus. The photos in the press show the bus missing its entire roof, which is really quite remarkable and scary. It is a wonder more people were not hurt. Or indeed more seriously.

Whether or not those injured can pursue a claim for compensation will have to be investigated, and against whom they would bring a claim would also need careful consideration. It is a rather unusual incident.

Our personal injury team can help passengers involved in road traffic accidents to claim compensation for their injuries. Call us today on 01616 966 229 where one of our specialists will be more than happy to discuss the merits of your case.
