Most of us would know Kris Marshall better from the BT advertising campaign that he has long been the star of, yet on this occasion the news has featured Mr Marshall for an appearance at the Magistrates Court theatre. The actor was charged and bailed to appear at Yeovil magistrates and was subsequently banned from driving a motor vehicle after pleading guilty to an offence of failing to supply a breath specimen.
The Crown Prosecution Service outlined the circumstances of the offence and stated that Mr Marshall was found in his motor vehicle with the seat reclined, key in the ignition and the radio on whilst asleep behind the wheel of his green Jaguar. He was then spoken to and woken up by two local police officers who formed the view that he was drunk. Mr Marshall admitted to drinking earlier on that evening but had taken refuge in his car to sleep off the effects. However, the BT advert star was arrested by the police and taken to the local police station where he failed to provide a police station breath test on the machine. The police asked him for an explanation for not being able to provide a specimen and Mr Marshall blamed his asthma medical condition.
