More Legal 500 success for Stephensons

We are delighted to announce that our general crime and fraud department have been awarded tier one ranking in the Legal 500. This is the fourth consecutive year this department have been placed into this category.

The Legal 500 analyses the capabilities of law firms across the world, assessing the strengths of law firms in over 100 jurisdictions. The rankings are based on extensive market research and a variety of criteria, considering feedback from other leading solicitors and barristers in the field, previous clients, and the type, range and complexity of criminal work that the team have been involved in over the year. This tier one ranking recognises that the criminal litigation team at Stephensons are members of an elite group of the best criminal lawyers in England and Wales, delivering a high quality client service.

Last year alone the department represented a number of clients all over England and Wales who were charged with the most serious and complex of criminal offences, including murder, serious sexual offences and multi-million pound fraud and drug offences.

The department is led by four partners and a team of specialist solicitors and advocates with over 200 years of combined experience. The team are proactive and robust in defending cases, meet regularly with the clients and have access to a network of experienced counsel and experts, developed over many years of practise.

Correna Platt, who heads the serious and complex criminal defence team has been described in the Legal 500 as being a “fearless advocate”.

Colin Rawson, who has recently been promoted to a partner at the firm, has been commended for his “excellent communication skills”.

Sean Joyce is a Higher Court Solicitor Advocate and heads the regulatory and criminal justice department "Joyce is ‘one of the top criminal solicitors in the North West and really fights for his clients’. The department assists clients nationwide and is ‘particularly recommended for its miscarriage of justice work’."

We would like to thank everyone who was approached for their feedback.

It is important, for anyone being investigated or prosecuted for a serious offence, to instruct solicitors who have the expertise to represent them. If you do require assistance from this department please do not hesitate to contact the team on 01616 966 229.
