Legal Ombudsman expresses concerns over conveyancing complaints

  • Posted

A recent report from the Legal Ombudsman - "Losing the Plot - residential conveyancing complaints and their causes" - expressed concerns about the rising level of complaints about residential conveyancing services.

The Ombudsman insists that conveyancing lawyers should be giving priority to quality noting "the emotional consequences of poor service". Everyone who has ever moved home knows how stressful the process can be and poor quality legal services are only adding to this stress.

The report welcomes the introduction of innovative services which speed up the efficiency of the conveyancing process, but warns that this should not lead to a 'factory approach' but rather should further assist in providing quality service.

At Stephensons we are proud of our innovative approach to providing legal services, which is evidenced by benefits such as Homebuyers Plus, and the quality of the service that we provide. Stephensons was awarded Overall Conveyancing Firm of the Year 2012 at the Law Firm Services Awards which is testament to the quality of that service. We have also recently committed to six pledges aimed at helping to improve the home buying process for ‘frustrated’ consumers, as part of our membership to the Conveyancing Association.

If you are thinking of buying or selling a house, why not contact a member of our team and put your trust in a law firm with a reputation for quality service. Call us on 01616 966 229 .
