Do we consider texting to be more important than someone's life?

  • Posted

A lorry driver has recently been sentenced to 5 years and 3 months imprisonment after his lorry toppled over, crushing an Audi and killing two innocent passengers.

It was later discovered that the lorry driver had received a text message from his friend and as he was reading the text message his lorry collided with the victims' Audi, causing the lorry to topple over and crush the car.

After further investigations of the lorry drivers mobile phone, it was discovered that he had sent and received almost 100 text messages in the three days leading up to the accident. All when the lorry's tachograph showed the vehicle was being driven.

Is reading a text message really more important than someone's life? Think... don't text and drive!
