Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce takes a dramatic turn as information is leaked about the “Allied” star being in possession of a damning video of the mother of six. News sites report the star would be ready to release this if his estranged wife does not agree on shared custody.
This is the recent turn of event in the highly publicised divorce proceedings. Angelina Jolie has already previously shared a statement confirming the former couple had reached an agreement regarding the custody of their six children: Madox, Pax (12), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and twins Knox and Vivienne (both 8).
Last week, Brad Pitt was cleared of child abuse by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Claims were brought against the actor of being abusive toward his oldest son Madox (15), whilst travelling on a private jet.
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in September this year requesting sole custody of her children. Shortly after allegations of abused surfaced and the actor was interviewed by the DCFS.
Amanda Rimmer, family law Partner from Stephensons said: “This is an incredibly high profile case involving two movie stars who are also known across the globe for their charitable works. They both have unlimited funds to fight this to the bitter end. However, this case does not differ in any way from the ones I work with on a daily basis. Allegations of drug or alcohol abuse and violence are often made during custody proceedings. Partners are happy to accept each other’s weaknesses whilst they remain in the relationship but when estranged, they are less likely to do so.
It is an incredibly tall ask from a parent to waive their custodial rights. Unless there is far more behind the abuse allegations than has been leaked to the press, I would be surprised if Brad Pitt does not fight for his and the children’s rights”.
Pitt and Jolie were married for two and together for 12 years after becoming close while filming 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
