Local man dies in road traffic accident

  • Posted

I was saddened to learn how a motorcyclist died after a collision involving a car in Tyldesley.

The article, reported by the Leigh Journal, described how Keith Haydock, 47, of Tyldesley, was travelling up Hough Lane in the direction of the Manchester Road/Sale Lane junction when the collision occurred as he passed Tyldesley Cemetery on the approach to Hough Lane bridge.

Police were called to the scene following a report that the 47-year-old married father-of-two had been injured. It seems that the motorcycle collided with a grey Ford Mondeo – which was travelling in front of Mr Haydock – as it turned left into the driveway of a house. Mr Haydock, who was employed at International Timber in Trafford Park, was taken to hospital for treatment, but sadly later died.

The driver and the passenger in the car were not injured.

This is a further unfortunate reminder of the importance of road safety and the tragic consequences which can surround any road traffic accident.
