Tragic death on Snowdon

  • Posted

I was saddened to learn that the body of a walker from the Greater Manchester area had been found on the morning of Wednesday 11th April 2012 in a gulley approximately 2,800ft on Mount Snowdon.

I understand that Mr Tyrer had failed to return from the mountain after setting out on a solo expedition the previous day.

As an individual with an interest in hill walking and having climbed Mount Snowdon myself only 4 days prior to this tragedy, it really does bring home the potential dangers of this sporting pursuit and the importance of ensuring that where possible all safety measures and precautions are taken.

The inquest in to the event is now adjourned and my thoughts are with the family of Mr Tyrer at this time.
