Sohaib Shafqat

Sohaib is a Graduate Paralegal in the regulatory department and assists the Partners and Solicitors in the representation of individual professionals and businesses across a range of regulatory areas including professional discipline, CQC and Ofsted regulation, inquests and regulatory defence.

Sohaib joined Stephensons in January 2025 after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Hull, achieving an upper second-class honours law degree. Sohaib was awarded a Level 5 Advanced Paralegal Apprenticeship in June 2026, which commences in August 2026.

Sohaib has assisted on the following recent cases:

Investigation by the General Medical Council (GMC): prepared a detailed reflective statement for a client whose registration was suspended by the GMC. Following numerous suspensions, a review hearing was schedule and the detailed reflective statement was considered by the interim order tribunal. The client’s suspension was lifted and the client was free to practice again without restriction.

CQC Notice of Decision to Cancel Registration: assisted with the preparation of a care home provider’s evidence in an appeal to the Care Standards Tribunal, including a detailed witness statement and extensive exhibit bundle on behalf of a Nominated Individual. After service of this evidence, the CQC agreed to inspect the care provider and as a result, the CQC allowed the provider’s appeal and a hearing was avoided.
