Hayley Mercer
Associate & Interventions Department Manager
Hayley is an associate and department manager of our interventions team based in Wigan.
Hayley studied at Liverpool John Moores University and graduated in 2012 with a degree in criminal justice. Following her graduation, she swiftly commenced employment with a local law firm as a secretary within the residential property department.
Hayley joined the interventions team at Stephensons in April 2013 as a graduate paralegal on a temporary 6 month contract. She became the department manager in September 2017 following the rapid growth of the department and became an associate in April 2020, after making a significant and sustained contribution to the firm.
Hayley has supported both the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) on many interventions over the years, and assisted on some of the largest interventions the SRA has conducted. Hayley and her team deal with all aspects of interventions, including statutory trust work and delivery up applications, when necessary.
In addition to intervention work, Hayley and her team have assisted the SRA in investigating and writing reports for claims made to the SRA’s compensation fund. In total, Hayley has dealt with and supervised her team in the investigation of over 2,500 claims made to the compensation fund over the course of 18 months.
