Trainee Solicitor

Gillian is a trainee solicitor in the commercial property department and is expected to qualify as a solicitor in September 2020.

Gillian studied for the graduate diploma in law and the legal practice course at BPP Manchester part time during her previous career. She joined Stephensons in December 2015 within the commercial litigation team as a new business advisor, bringing a wealth of commercial experience to the role having had previous careers in wholesale and IT. In 2017 Gillian secured a role within the same team as a graduate paralegal fee earner, specialising in landlord and tenant litigation and possession proceedings. Her client base ranged from individuals with one property to companies with multi-million pound portfolios of investment properties. She has also written blogs for the Stephensons website on landlord and tenant matters.

Gillian became a trainee solicitor in September 2018 and moved to the commercial property department where she is supervised by Kate Bullen.

Gillian advises a range of clients including individuals, directors of companies and housing associations. She specialises in:

  • Commercial property acquisitions and sales
  • Land registry applications
  • Drafting and reviewing commercial leases
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, rent deposit deeds, transfers and assured shorthold tenancies
  • Auction purchases of land and property
  • Right to buy and right to acquire sales
