Bethany is a senior associate solicitor in the family law department at Stephensons and is primarily based between our Wigan and St Helens offices.
Bethany joined Stephensons after graduating with a first class honours degree from the University of Central Lancashire in September 2014. She joined the firm as a graduate paralegal and has spent the majority of her time at Stephensons within the family department. Bethany secured a training contract with Stephensons in September 2017 and spent 18 months of her 2 year training contact within the family team under the supervision of Victoria Gethin.
Bethany qualified as a solicitor within the department in September 2019, she was made an associate solicitor in April 2022 and a senior associate solicitor in April 2024. Bethany has been an accredited member of Resolution since 2021, with specialisms in the areas of private and public family law.
Bethany has accrued considerable experience in cases relating to children. She now focuses primarily on cases relating to children, both private law children disputes (issues relating to children where there is a dispute between parents) and public law (issues relating to children involving the local authority/social services). Bethany represents parents, extended family members, professionals and local authorities both within pre-proceedings and in care proceedings.
Bethany has represented parents in negotiating arrangements for their children outside of the court arena and also within court proceedings.

Bethany has worked on cases relating to children, involving significant allegations of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, issues relating to drugs and alcohol, mental health issues, cases with an international element including applications to relocate and cases involving allegations of non-accidental injuries.
Bethany has successfully obtained urgent orders in order to ensure the protection and safety of victims of domestic abuse and the safety of children.
