Stephensons promotes seven to Associate

Leading North West law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP has announced seven new associates across several of its regional offices in Wigan, Leigh, Manchester and Bolton.

The role of associate is an award of recognition by the partners of Stephensons to employees who have made a substantial contribution to the firm. Associates are appointed annually, with promotions this year in the Clinical Negligence, Fraud and Regulatory, Commercial, Residential Property, Family and Marketing teams.

Ann Harrison, chairwoman of Stephensons, said: “Associateship at Stephensons is a mark of the highest recognition and respect. This is a title given to people who have made a sustained and significant contribution to the firm and who represent everything that makes up the values and culture of our organisation. Congratulations to all of our new appointments.”

The new associates are:

Claire Stockley, who joined the firm three years ago as a clinical negligence solicitor in Wigan. Claire is part of one of the largest Clinical Negligence departments in the region, working to gain access to justice for those who have suffered negligence at the hands of medical professionals. She handles a complex caseload including birth injury claims, dental claims, cosmetic surgery claims, and claims arising from problems during surgery. 

Business development manager, Mark Fenning, joined the firm seven years ago to become a solicitor before adapting his role to include business development. Mark continually seeks to develop business for the firm, particularly within the insurance market where he promotes the firm’s services to insurers and brokers both in the provision of legal helplines and panel solicitor work. Mark is also a member of the Salford Local Council of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Gillian Davies, a highly experienced family solicitor and mediator based in the Manchester office. Gillian is a member of Resolution and handles a variety of family matters including complex financial disputes, prenuptial agreements and children disputes.

Rachel Adamson, an expert in fraud and regulatory defence and has over 16 years experience. Rachel is a Solicitor Advocate, enabling her to conduct cases in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal in criminal proceedings. Rachel is based in the Wigan office, and has defended numerous high profile investigations and prosecutions including those by the Serious Fraud Office, HMRC and the Environment Agency amongst others.

Natalie Jones, who has more than ten years’ experience in residential conveyancing and joined Stephensons Residential Property team in Leigh in 2007. Natalie is responsible for the day to day management of the referral team and also runs a caseload of sale and purchase transactions.

Nicola Whittle joined the firm seven years ago and is a solicitor in the commercial team in Middlebrook, Bolton specialising in Insolvency and Commercial Litigation. Nicola assists a variety of clients including insolvency practitioners, companies, directors, creditors and investors in both contentious and non-contentious insolvency cases, banking and finance litigation, director and shareholder disputes and directors’ disqualification proceedings.

Julie Wright, a commercial property solicitor who trained with Stephensons and qualified as a solicitor five years ago. Julie is based in Middlebrook, Bolton, acting for commercial developers, investors, owner/occupiers, landlords and tenants, as well as housing associations. She also provides property support to the firm’s insolvency and corporate teams and has acted in a wide variety of transactions for insolvency practitioners.
