Stephensons recommended across fourteen areas of law

The 2015 edition of Legal 500 ranks Stephensons Solicitors LLP in 14 different areas of law as well as highlighting the work of 19 solicitors and partners at the firm.

Legal 500 Top TierThe Legal 500 is the definitive guide to the legal profession and each year its researchers undertake stringent research into the industry. The independent guide recommends law firms for their expertise by ranking them in tiers and also highlights any outstanding legal professionals.

In the 2015 edition Stephensons has been ranked in 14 areas of law, receiving commendations in the areas of commercial litigation, commercial property, employment, professional discipline, professional negligence, transport, family, clinical negligence, contentious trusts, fraud, crime, personal injury, local government and housing law.

The firm’s crime team received the highest available ranking, tier one. The guide says: “The ‘top-notch’ six-partner team at Stephensons Solicitors LLP has expertise spanning transport law, appeals and miscarriages of justice, prison law and human rights matters. Managing partner Sean Joyce heads the regulatory and criminal justice department. Mike Pemberton is ‘an outstanding civil liberties solicitor’, and head of the appeals team. Correna Platt ‘leaves no stone unturned’”.

The family department was noted for its ‘strength in depth’ and a ‘truly professional approach’. The guide went to say: “Noted ‘expert’ Mike Devlin heads the department, with Andrew Mountain and Amanda Rimmer leading on childcare and matrimonial matters respectively.”

The commercial department, headed by Jonathan Chadwick, was ranked high for its work with SMEs and ‘strong’ discrimination offering at the employment team.

Head of Litigation Louise Griffiths was noted as being ‘excellent’ and praised for the ‘quality set-up’ of the personal injuries team under Kate Sweeney, who ‘is recommended for road traffic accident, accident at work and CICA claims’.  The guide also noted Judith Thomas-Whittingham as ‘excellent’ for clinical negligence.
