£6,000 awarded to claimant who slipped in a supermarket
Stephensons’ personal injury specialists recently settled a case for a Claimant who had sustained injury due to slipping on water leaking from a supermarket freezer.
The Claimant was shopping in her local supermarket, when she suddenly slipped, landing on the ground subsequently hitting the top of her leg and the outside of her right knee on the floor. The cause of the slipping accident was due to liquid on the floor which was identified as water leaking from the freezers.
On attending the hospital, the Claimant was diagnosed with suffering bruising to her right knee. Upon investigation the Claimant was shown to have pre-existing osteoarthritis in her right knee and it was noted that the accident had accelerated the Claimant’s knee symptoms by 3-4 years. The Claimant was also diagnosed with bruising to her left hip region and underwent physiotherapy for this. The Claimant recovered from this injury within 2 years of the accident.
After Stephensons proceeded with the case against the property owners, the case was settled and the Claimant received £6,000 compensation.
