Why did you choose a career at Stephensons?
I joined over 20 years ago as a newly qualified solicitor in the personal injury department. At that time I was looking to develop my professional skills by working on interesting cases and making a difference to clients lives. I had great opportunities to do that but also found that I enjoyed managing teams of people. The firm supported my development through associate/team leader to Partner/departmental manager and now Board member/Managing Partner.
I find that Stephensons is a place where I am comfortable because we all share the same values. We work co-operatively together to help our clients. There are structures and processes to help us all do our jobs but we are not hidebound by hierarchy.
What is the best thing about your job?
I get to make a difference and I can empower others to do the same. I am proud of how our firm has grown and am committed to continuing to grow it. But we maintain our values even as we get bigger. I talk to staff of all levels on a daily basis and I value their input. We are only as good as the people working in the business and I enjoy seeing others flourish when they rise to new challenges.

You will get to work on some good, life changing, cases. We provide the support to help people develop their careers and learn new skills. The sky is the limit for talented individuals. People work hard because they want to but we offer flexibility and do not have a culture of presenteeism. Communication is good with everyone knowing what the firm's strategy is, how they fit into it and how they can influence it.
