Sophie Chilstone

Biography

Sophie is a senior associate solicitor in the commercial litigation department at Stephensons. She specialises in all aspects of residential landlord and tenant law including eviction proceedings, disrepair claims, deposit disputes, debt recovery and general landlord and tenant advice. Sophie is known for her efficient, organised and proactive approach, with a clear focus on securing the best possible results for her clients.

Sophie completed her law degree at Leeds Beckett University and her master’s degree at the University of Law. Sophie joined the department in 2021, when she began specialising in residential landlord and tenant law.

Sophie acts for landlord and tenant clients nationally and offers a fixed-fee service where possible, helping landlords manage costs while achieving effective outcomes.

Sophie also works with several well-known insurance companies to assist landlords who have the benefit of landlord insurance policies.

Recent case study

Successful possession and rent recovery claim - following recovery of possession, Ms. A pursued the outstanding rent arrears. This led to a further payment of c£14,800 by the solicitor tenant in full and final settlement of the arrears.
