Katherine Brownsey
Katherine is a Graduate Paralegal in the regulatory department and assists the Partners and Solicitors with cases in relating to CQC and Ofsted regulation, professional discipline, inquests and regulatory defence.
Katherine joined Stephensons in January 2026, following the completion of her Philosophy degree at Newcastle University. Katherine obtained First Class BA Honours Degree in Philosophy, as well as an Outstanding Academic Performance Award for achieving the fifth highest final year average in her year group.
Katherine particularly enjoys the client-focused element of her paralegal role. With over 6 years of experience in customer service, she takes pride in her strong communication skills. Whilst she did not study law at university, she believes her Philosophy degree has equipped her with an impartial mindset and the ability to handle client matters with understanding and objectivity.
In her spare time, Katherine enjoys going to the gym, travelling and socialising with her friends.
Katherine has assisted on the following cases:
- Ofsted Childminder Suspension Appeal: assisted in taking instructions and preparing detailed witness statements and evidence for an appeal against a suspension notice.
- SCW Interim Order Hearing: assisted in the preparation of a support worker’s case for an interim orders hearing where the SCW were seeking the suspension of the client’s registration.
- Food Safety and Hygiene Investigation: assisted in taking instructions from and advising a food business who was facing a criminal investigation for food safety and hygiene offences following a pest infestation.
