Gwyneth is a partner in the family law department. She is based in Manchester dealing with all aspects of the law as it affects children. She is a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority's Children Panel Accreditation Scheme and is the Chair of Child Concern.
Gwyneth acts for children, parents, local authorities, prospective adopters/special guardians, family members and others in both private and public law proceedings. She has experience in cross border applications and placements and has recently advised on the effects of Brexit. She also recently trained paediatricians with regard to providing expert reports and evidence in the family court.
Gwyneth graduated in 1985 from the University of Dundee. Before qualifying in 1988 she trained and then worked in private practice in the South East of England. She moved into local government as a solicitor dealing with all aspects of court work for West Sussex County Council and then moved to Surrey County Council as a senior solicitor in child protection law. She then moved to Warwickshire County Council and during a year living in Toronto, Canada she worked voluntarily with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer. She returned to Warwickshire County Council before moving north to Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.
In 2001 she returned to private practice joining Berrys Solicitors who merged with Stephensons in 2005 where she has remained. Gwyneth is involved in providing training for social workers, foster carers, lawyers, police officers, medical and other professionals working in the field of child care law.
