Emily Ireland
Biography
Emily is an apprentice solicitor in the Court of Protection and community care team in where she is supervised by Sophie Maloney.
Emily assists the solicitors in the team with often complex and sensitive Court of Protection and community care cases, including:
- Drafting funding applications for legal aid funding
- Drafting Court of Protection documents, including witness statements and court applications
- Assisting the solicitors in the team with all aspects of health and welfare cases in the Court of Protection
Emily has experience of assisting solicitors in the team on a wide range of issues concerning the capacity and best interests of vulnerable adults, including applications pursuant to s21A and s16 of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and medical treatment cases.
Emily graduated from the University of York in August 2024 with a first-class honours degree in law. She is due to begin her Solicitor’s Qualifying Exam at the University of Law through the Stephensons’ graduate apprenticeship programme, alongside her role at Stephensons. She is hoping to complete the solicitor apprenticeship and qualify as a solicitor by September 2027.
In her free time, Emily enjoys going on city breaks, keeping fit, and walking her cockapoo, Harper.
