Biography
Caitlin is an apprentice solicitor in the regulatory department at Stephensons working in areas including regulatory defence, professional discipline and CQC/Ofsted regulation.
Caitlin joined Stephensons in June 2024, shortly after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Exeter achieving an upper second-class honours law degree.
Caitlin has assisted solicitors and Partners in the regulatory team on the following recent cases:
Referral to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC): prepared detailed representations for a client referred to the NMC, addressing specific concerns and providing evidence of insight and remediation. The NMC accepted the arguments and closed the case with no further action.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Representation: opposed a proposed barring order by highlighting the client’s positive regulatory history, responsibility, and learning, resulting in the DBS deciding there was no risk and taking no action.
Contesting Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Interim Orders: successfully challenged an interim conditions of practice order for a healthcare professional accused of workplace misconduct, convincing the High Court not to extend the order and enabling the client to return to clinical practice.
Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Investigation Support: assisted with a regulatory investigation into a law firm by conducting thorough file reviews and preparing a forensic report to assist the SRA’s in the decision making regarding potential misconduct.
