Sean Joyce celebrates 30 years at Stephensons

The national law firm Stephensons is celebrating a significant milestone as Sean Joyce, marks 30 years with the firm and a career that has taken him from student placements to equity partner, department head and Managing Partner.

Sean first joined Stephensons through student placements while studying Law and Philosophy at the University of Hull, before being offered a training contract in 1994.

He officially started at Stephensons’ Leigh office on 2 September 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in July 1998.

A career of progression and leadership

  • 1996 – Joined Stephensons as a trainee solicitor
  • 1998 – Qualified as a solicitor
  • 2003 – Became a crime solicitor
  • 2007 – Appointed partner and manager in the private crime team
  • 2012 – Became an equity partner
  • 2023 – Appointed Managing Partner

Over the years, Sean has developed a highly regarded practice specialising in criminal, regulatory and business crime matters, while helping to build one of the region’s strongest specialist teams.
