Fall whilst at work - £17,863 settlement

Stephensons’ personal injury solicitors recently settled a case on behalf of the estate of a man who fell whilst at work. Sadly, our client died during the course of his case, from an unrelated cause, however, Stephensons continued to investigate on the behalf of his family.

The man, employed to carry out re-signalling work on the railway, was descending some steps in order to access a bridge when his right foot became caught on a piece of shuttering. He fell and suffered from a displaced fracture of his right ankle, ligament damage to his right knee and a laceration to his shin.

As a result of the fall, the man’s leg and ankle remained in plaster for 8 weeks. He then required a brace on his leg and physiotherapy. At the time of his death, our client was awaiting surgical reconstruction for a rupture to his anterior cruciate ligament, also caused by the accident.

The case was settled out of Court for just under £17,900.

Accidents at work are unfortunately very common and can result in serious injuries such as in this case. We have a team of personal injury specialists who are available to help people who have suffered from falls.
