The Wigan-based law firm, Stephensons has presented a cheque for over £8,000 to Wigan and Leigh Hospice following 12 months of staff fundraising.
Wigan and Leigh Hospice, based in Hindley, provides skilled care, help and support for more than 1,000 people living with a life-limiting illness across the Wigan Borough. Wigan and Leigh Hospice also helps the families and carers of patients.
Many patients will – where possible – be cared for in their own homes, in nursing or care homes or at the charity’s specialist short-stay unit.
Over the past 12 months, employees from across Stephensons have come together to help raise funds for the charity through a wide range of events. This includes a sponsored 20-mile walk from Southport to Wigan.
Sean Joyce, managing partner at Stephensons said:
“Wigan and Leigh Hospice does incredible work supporting people at the end of their lives as well as their families. The charity and its work are held in great regard by many of the team here at Stephensons; in fact, this is now the third time we have helped raise funds for the charity. I am sure that close relationship will continue in the future.”
Amy Jones, corporate and major donor fundraiser at Wigan and Leigh Hospice added:
“Wigan & Leigh Hospice are so appreciative of the support Stephensons has given us, not only in the past year but over many years previously. As you can imagine with Covid and the cost-of-living crisis, as a charity we have struggled and need £10,000 per day to offer the outstanding care and support we provide. Without the support we get from the likes of Stephensons, this simply wouldn’t be possible.”
