Stephensons announces New Start - The Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund as its charity of the year for 2025

The national law firm, Stephensons, has selected New Start, the Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund as its charity of the year.

New Start was selected following a staff-wide vote, reflecting the firm's commitment to supporting local causes that make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Founded in 1986, New Start - the Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund, supports patients undergoing life-saving organ transplants, as well as the dedicated NHS staff who provide their care. The charity funds essential medical equipment, patient welfare initiatives, and ongoing research – all crucial to improving transplant outcomes and quality of life for patients.

This announcement follows several months of fundraising by Stephensons’ regulatory department, whose early involvement with the charity sparked firmwide interest in backing New Start in a larger, more sustained way.

Each year, employees at Stephensons nominate and vote for a charity to support through twelve months of fundraising and volunteering activity. From marathons and raffles to dress-down days and bake sales, the firm has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities across the North West and beyond.

Steve Fowler, Chair of New Start said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Stephensons’ Charity of the Year. Their support will help fund ground-breaking research and innovative solutions, as well as improvements in day-to-day care that make a real difference to the lives of people at every stage of the transplant journey. We look forward to working together to raise awareness and to help more people live healthier, happier lives.”

Sean Joyce, Managing Partner of Stephensons added:

“We are proud to be supporting New Start as our new charity of the year. The work done at Wythenshawe’s transplant unit is truly life-changing, and we’re excited to play a role in helping them continue their vital mission.

“Our colleagues are passionate about giving back to the community and we’re looking forward to raising as much as we can to help New Start continue their important work over the next twelve months.”
