National road safety award for Stephensons

Stephensons, the national law firm, has been recognised for its contribution to road safety, picking up the Road Safety in the Community award at the 2017 Brake Fleet Safety Awards.

The accolade recognises outstanding achievements in the promotion of road safety with candidates selected from leading organisations across the UK.

Stephensons was commended for its long-standing commitment to the prevention of road traffic accidents through awareness campaigns and work with local stakeholders and community organisations. The firm was also congratulated on the work of its personal injury team in representing and supporting vulnerable people, long after the legal process.

The personal injury team - which specialises in helping those injured in RTAs – has supported Brake’s Road Safety Week initiative for a number of years, providing free, interactive road safety presentations to schools in the communities surrounding Stephensons’ offices.

It is estimated that Stephensons has presented to more than 1,000 school children in the North West since 2009.

The Brake Fleet Safety awards recognises the achievements of organisations and their initiatives to reduce the number of injuries and deaths on the roads. It is hosted by the national road safety charity, Brake.

Kate Sweeney, head of personal injury law at Stephensons, said: “To receive a nationally recognised award such as this is a true indicator of the year-on-year commitment Stephensons has made to supporting Brake and road safety in locations around our offices and further afield.

“Seeing the impact of road traffic injuries – on the victims and their families – first hand, means that road safety is a cause close to our personal injury solicitors. It is part of our wider ethos that our duty of care extends far beyond the litigation period. Our solicitors often provide a valuable guiding hand in allowing the client to move on from their injury and – where necessary – adjust to life with the long term effects.”
