Fractured ankle from tripping on defective manhole cover - £6,431.20

Stephensons’ personal injury specialists recently settled a case for a Claimant who had sustained injury due to tripping over a defective manhole cover in a car park.

The Claimant was exiting her home through a communal door and proceeded along the pathway towards the car park, when she noticed a wheelie bin was tilted. She walked to move the bin when she stood on the edge of a manhole cover, which was unstable subsequently causing the Claimant to fall forwards, landing on her right hand side. On attending the hospital, the Claimant was diagnosed with suffering from a fracture of her left ankle and a soft tissue injury to her knee and left shoulder. She was required to stay in hospital for 6 days and thereafter wear a plaster cast for a period of 5 weeks.

The Claimant recovered from all her symptoms within 12 months post accident.

After Stephensons proceeded with the case against the property owners, the case was settled and the Claimant received £6,431.20 in compensation.
