We were delighted to welcome 28 A-Level Law students from Winstanley College to our Wigan office for an exclusive Inside a Law Firm experience, designed to provide a real world insight into the legal profession and the variety of career opportunities available within a modern law firm.
The event aimed to help students understand how a law firm operates on a day to day basis, explore different areas of legal practice and gain a better understanding of the routes available into a legal career. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the business, including both legal and support teams, learn about the skills required for different roles and ask questions about careers, qualifications and working life in the legal sector.
The event included a welcome session from Sean Joyce, interactive speed networking with representatives from a range of departments, a legal case challenge and a careers panel featuring colleagues who had entered the profession through different pathways, including apprenticeships, traditional degree routes and the SQE.
These sessions were designed to provide students with practical insight into legal work while helping the students to easily understand the profession and showcase the diverse range of opportunities available within the industry. Students were encouraged to engage directly with our colleagues, gaining first hand knowledge of the challenges, rewards and realities of working in law.
