Hold on to your hats! Stephensons supports Action for Brain Injury Week 2013

North West law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP is supporting this week’s Action for Brain Injury Week 2013, with a series of fundraising events to raise money for the brain injury charity, Headway.

The Headway charity runs ‘Hats for Headway’ on the last day of Action for Brain Injury Week, to raise funds for people who have suffered brain injuries. This year, the week will focus on a positive campaign aimed at GPs to assist them with diagnosing and appropriately signposting patients and carers affected by the often hidden aspects of brain injury

Stephensons’ Clinical Negligence team, which specialises in helping people who have suffered brain injuries at birth to gain access to justice, is designing – and wearing – hats next Friday (May 17th) in return for a donation. The ‘best hat’ will win a prize. The firm is also having a dress down day and holding a raffle, tombola and bake sale to raise extra money.

Judith Thomas-Whittingham, partner and head of Clinical Negligence at Stephensons, said: “This is the second year we have taken part in Action for Brain Injury Week, having raised almost £200 last year. We are aiming to beat that total this year and I expect a lot of competition for the best hat prize.

“Both the clinical negligence and personal injury teams at Stephensons assist people who have been affected by life-changing brain injuries on a daily basis. We’re getting involved to raise awareness of life limiting brain injuries as well as to raise funds that will support Headway’s vital work.”

Headway runs Action for Brain Injury Week each year. The aim is to promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers.

Stephensons’ Clinical Negligence department is one of the largest in the region. The team advises members of the public who have suffered negligence at the hands of medical professionals, including GPs, surgeons, beauty therapists, dentists and other practitioners. They assist individuals in recovering compensation for injuries and financial losses they have suffered as a result of negligence.

The firm’s Personal Injury team also assists people who have suffered brain injuries to gain compensation. The award-winning team has specialists handling cases which involve permanent injuries such as brain damage, head and spinal injuries. The department has a proven track record in not only investigating and maximising the financial aspects of a claim, but also assisting in providing practical support and other services to help people adapt to a dramatically altered lifestyle.
