What products are covered?
The Consumer Protection Act 1987 covers all consumer goods used in the workplace. All foodstuffs are also covered. Buildings are not covered, but items such as bricks are.
When can I as an injured person sue?
As with all personal injury claims the person has 3 years from the date of the injury or illness within which to make their claim.
I've thrown the defective item away -will that mean I won't be able to claim?
Not necessarily, providing you have proof of purchase. We would however recommend that any defective product be retained as it's likely it will have to be independently examined as part of the claim.
The manufacturer of this product is based outside the UK can I still claim?
Yes.
