Charities

Stephensons has the knowledge to assist with the specific issues facing charities and not for profit organisations. The Charities Act 2006 defines a Charity as a ‘body or trust which is for a charitable purpose that provides benefit to the public’.

We understand that some aspects faced by charities are similar to those faced by other businesses. However, our experience in this sector means that we are acutely aware of the areas that are distinctive to Charitable Organisations.

We advise a  variety of Charity clients and we act for a number of not for profit organisations who are set up as companies limited by guarantee.  Our practice is backed by having a full member of Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Full members of STEP are the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates. Our STEP member has also been appointed to the Court of Protection Receivers Panel.

Our services include:

  • Employment
  • Contracts
  • Organisational structures and trading
  • Property and Construction
  • Governance
  • Complex Probate and Estate Administration
  • Assistance with dealing with the Charities Commission
  • Charities Act compliance

Within Stephensons we understand the legislative challenges faced by Charities in an uncompromising market. We aim to guide charities through whilst simultaneously providing a competitively priced service.
