Nicola Clayton

Senior Associate Solicitor

Biography

Nicola is an senior associate solicitor in the family law department at our Wigan office. Nicola joined the family team as a solicitor in 2018 having practised in Liverpool and Manchester for six years. She was made an associate in 2019.

Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 2012 having completed her law degree at Lancaster University and thereafter her legal practice course at Chester College of Law.

Nicola specialises in representing parents when social services are involved with their families, providing advice from the early stages through to court proceedings. Nicola attends pre-proceedings meetings with clients and thereafter represents them at court should care proceedings be issued.

She also advises and represents parents involved in private law proceedings, particularly in respect of who a child should live with or spend time with. Nicola has also helped to protect clients who have been subjected to domestic abuse by securing non-molestation orders.

Over the past two years Nicola has also gained experience in representing children in care proceedings and private law proceedings having achieved children’s panel accreditation in 2016.  

Nicola conducts the majority of her own advocacy and has represented clients in court throughout the North West.
