A legal expert at Stephensons Solicitors LLP, who advises unmarried couples, is celebrating after being made a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX).
Gillian Lavelle, a legal executive in the Consumer law team at Stephensons in Leigh, has studied for six years to obtain the qualification.
Legal executives are trained to the same level as a solicitor, and Gillian is now able to undertake many of the legal activities that solicitors do.
She advises members of the public who are in dispute with their former partner over assets such as the family home, and also acts for people who are challenging unfair loan agreements.
Gillian, from Salford, said: “This is a very proud moment for me as I have been studying hard for the past six years to become a legal executive. I am looking forward to progressing my development in this area so that I can continue to provide clients with first class legal advice.”
Liam Waine, a Partner at Stephensons, said: “Congratulations to Gillian, she has worked hard to obtain her FILEX qualification. It will provide extra assurance to our clients that they are being advised by a legal expert who is among the best in their field.”
