Harold Bullough, a former Partner at Stephensons Solicitors LLP, has sadly passed away. His funeral took place on Monday 23rd January at Wigan Parish Church, followed by a celebration of his life at his beloved Wigan Cricket Club.
Harold enjoyed a long and successful career as a Conveyancing and Wills solicitor and set up his own practice, Harold F Bullough Solicitors, on Library Street in Wigan town centre.
In May 1987, Stephensons merged with Harold’s practice to give the firm a Wigan presence for the first time. Our Library Street office still remains today as one of the leading firms in the town.
Harold will be remembered as a very kind hearted man who used to bring in sweets and biscuits every week as a small treat for the staff at the Wigan office.
He was also very enthusiastic when it came to the Wigan Law Society dinners and the Medical dinners and attended on nearly every occasion when his health was good. He used to come in to work the following day and regale the staff with tales of mouth watering food and the after dinner speeches.
When he retired from practice, he even continued to call into the office on a daily basis to have a chat and catch up on the latest office news. He was very proud of the fact that at 70 he was still playing for the Wigan Cricket Team at Bull Hey.
On his 80th birthday, Stephensons held an informal presentation for him, presenting him with a cricket bat signed by the Lancashire Cricket Team and his beloved tipple, gin.
Ann Harrison, chairwoman of Stephensons, said: “Harold was a much loved partner at Stephensons who is remembered fondly by many of our staff who worked with him. We will all miss him dearly.”
