Stephensons teaches pupils about road safety

National Road Safety Week

Awarding winning law firm, Stephensons Solicitors LLP, visited two local schools in a bid to educate the pupils in the importance of road safety.

As part of National Road Safety Week, Stephensons delivered an interactive BRAKE presentation to a class at Hazlehurst community primary school and Worsley Mesnes community primary school. The rkshop, which was led by one of Stephensons’ personal injury solicitors, helped to remind the children of how to cross the road safely and to always be aware of other road users. In conjunction with this years’ message, ‘Tune In’, the children discussed the significance of avoiding distractions when crossing the road.

The workshop was led by Shahina Sakeria, a solicitor at Stephensons, who acts for people injured in road traffic accidents as well as other types of accidents.

Shahina said: “We support BRAKE and the work the charity does to make our roads a safer place to be. Road Safety Week gave us a perfect opportunity to focus on the issue in hand and help educate young people on the dangers around them.

“The children were able to identify dangers when crossing the road and learnt how they could improve their own safety. It was a pleasure to visit the schools and to meet all the children.”

To highlight the seriousness of road safety, Stephensons invited the pupils to enter a poster competition in which the students designed road safety poster to help raise awareness of Road Safety Week 2013. There were three prize winners, from each school (pictured), who received gift vouchers and all the students National Road Safety Weekwho took part were awarded a certificate for their efforts in raising road safety awareness.

Between June 2012 and June 2013, 23,530 people were either killed or seriously injured as a result of a road traffic accident.
