Regulatory specialists launch health food helpline

The regulatory team at Stephensons Solicitors LLP has launched a dedicated legal helpline specifically for businesses in the health food industry.

The North West law firm has identified a gap in the market for the advice line, after experiencing a surge in demand from businesses who are perplexed due to red tape, or already facing prosecutions.

The helpline provides direct access to Stephensons’ team of experienced regulatory solicitors. It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and can assist health food companies with legal advice on how to avoid costly regulatory offences in relation the packaging and advertising of their products.

Sean Joyce, regulatory partner at North West law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP, says: “There have been many examples of mainstream brands facing the Advertising Standards Agency watchdog over claims they have made on packaging or in advertising their brands.”

There are so many regulations to be aware of, such as the UK Food Labelling Regulations 1996, that it is easy to see why businesses involved in this industry, large and small, sometimes find it hard to avoid conflicts with extensive food product laws.

Sean continued: “Many of these laws are very detailed and navigating them without incident can be challenging and time consuming. Two of the key ways in which a product must conform to government standards are in packaging and advertising and unfortunately, this is where we also see the most occasions of businesses falling foul of the regulations.

“It is extremely important for businesses to seek legal assistance before embarking on expensive advertising or packaging. Even the slightest errors can have costly consequences. The cost of advertising strategies can be very significant for businesses, especially for smaller companies seeking to outmanoeuvre their larger rivals.”

Stephensons' regulatory solicitors have a history of great results in regulatory compliance. The helpline can be reached by calling 01616 966 229, Further information on this service can be obtained by emailing Sean Joyce at saj@stephensons.co.uk or alternatively, www.stephensons.co.uk.
