Neal Boland joined Stephensons in 1991. He is a consultant in Stephenson's criminal litigation department, which is widely recognised by the Legal 500 as one of the leading criminal law teams in the North West, and indeed in the UK. Neal manages the regulatory and motoring law solicitors within the department.
Neal has defended in numerous high profile investigations and prosecutions brought by the police and CPS but also those brought by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) ,the Environment Agency (EA) and Care Quality Commission (CQC) amongst others. He defends businesses and professionals at the very highest level. .
In addition, Neal is Stephensons' client relationship manager for many of the local authorities to which the firm provides legal services as part of framework panel agreements. To date, he has been the lead lawyer in almost 3,000 prosecutions conducted on behalf of Manchester City Council. He also undertook a number of ASBO applications on behalf of Leeds CC.
Neal also manages Stephensons' Intervention Unit. Under his direction, the team carries out interventions into other solicitor practices as part of the firm's position as an intervention agent for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
