Kate is a Partner specialising in commercial property and residential property law.
After graduating from the University of Hull in 2000 and following a year studying in York at the College of Law Kate commenced her training contract with Berrys Solicitors in Bolton. She qualified as a solicitor in May 2004 and stayed with Berrys which merged with Stephensons in October 2005. Kate dealt with a variety of matters whilst with Berrys but chose to specialise in commercial and residential property following the merger of the two firms. She became a Partner in 2011.
Kate is based in Bolton and deals with most aspects of non-litigious law. She specialises in all areas of commercial property work but has developed particular expertise in:
- Sales and purchase of commercial property
- Investment and portfolio transactions including mortgage and remortgages.
- Landlord and tenant law including leases and licence to assign, licence to sublet and licence to alter applications
- Commercial mortgages
- Pension scheme transactions including in specie transactions
- Housing associations
Kate has a wide range of commercial clients throughout the country. She continues to advise housing associations and registered social providers on many different types of transaction including flexible tenure, right to buy and right to acquire applications as well as forced and shared ownership sales. In contrast, Kate also has particular experience in acting for clients in the pharmaceutical sector as well as those investment clients with large portfolios that require management and advice on a daily basis.
On a personal level, Kate is a keen volunteer for local charities being a mentor for Bolton Lads and Girls Club and is on the board of directors for a local free school. She is also a committee member for Social Housing Law Association North. When work time permits she is also a keen horse rider.
