Gemma is an associate solicitor in the clinical negligence department. She joined the firm in 2010 as a graduate paralegal and completed her training contract with the firm in 2015. She was made an associate of the firm in 2018. Prior to joining Stephensons Gemma obtained an upper second class honours degree in law from the University of Manchester and a distinction in the legal practice course.
Gemma has a varied clinical negligence caseload including cases of surgical error, delay in diagnosis of cancer, misdiagnosis, orthopaedic injury and inappropriate and delayed medical treatment. Gemma has also assisted in a number of successful multi-million pound cerebral palsy and wrongful birth claims.
A number of Gemma’s clients are bringing their case on behalf of a loved one who has sadly passed away. Gemma is very aware of the worries and concerns that families have when someone has died as a result of negligent medical treatment. She therefore makes every effort to ensure that their case is as stress-free as possible and aims to uncover answers to the questions which her clients inevitably have about what happened.
