Ceri Thomas

Family Law Solicitor and Senior Associate

Biography

After completing her Law degree at Glamorgan University, Ceri obtained a diploma in Legal Practice at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Ceri began work at Stephensons in 2001 in the conveyancing department. She joined the family department in 2002 while undertaking the diploma in Legal Practice. Ceri went on to complete a training contract with the firm and qualified into the family department at the Manchester office in September 2005.

Since qualification Ceri has worked in the Manchester, Leigh and Bolton offices and
specialises exclusively in issues surrounding relationship breakdown, including divorce,
financial matters arising upon separation, disputes about the arrangements for children, and protection of vulnerable clients from domestic abuse.

Despite the recent changes to the availability of Legal Aid Ceri continues to primarily deal with cases funded by Legal Aid. Ceri advocates the use of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and the collaborative process, where appropriate but also regularly represents clients throughout the court process.  Ceri also provides bespoke fixed fees for many aspects of the work she does to enable clients to effectively budget for their legal fees.

Although Ceri is based in Bolton she advises clients throughout the North West; improvements in technology limit the need for client’s to physically attend at the office.

Ceri is a member of Resolution. She sits on the Manchester Area Resolution Committee and was on the founding committee of Young Resolution Manchester. Ceri is accredited by Resolution as a specialist family lawyer with particular specialisms in domestic abuse, complex financial and property matters and children law.
