Ann Harrison

Chairwoman

Ann took a seat on the Board in 2002 and held the role of Managing Partner until 2008 when she moved to her current role as Chairwoman. 

Ann joined Stephensons in 1991 having previously been a sole practitioner and cost draftsperson. She was appointed a Partner in 1993. She was Head of Personal Injury, Head of Clinical Negligence and then Head of Litigation. 

Before taking up her position in senior management, Ann's specialism lay in catastrophic injury cases notably brain injury and spinal injury matters.

In her current role Ann has overall responsibility for the 470 lawyers and support staff at Stephensons. During her time on the management team the turnover of the firm has grown from £5m, to £17.5m.

Stephensons provides nationwide services in a wide range of legal disciplines, including family, employment, accident claims, clinical negligence, wills, probate, conveyancing, leases, corporate and commercial work and many others. We have offices in London and the North West; we deliver services to clients across the whole country. The firm has worked hard to ensure that we can deliver services to clients right across the country by use of the latest technology.

In her role as Chairwoman Ann has responsibility for strategy and growth in addition to providing a mentoring role for Partners. Ann also carries the responsibility for regulation, risk and compliance across the firm.

Ann’s goal is to make Stephensons a trusted brand in the legal services market. She works with other managers to ensure that the firm achieves its vision of excellence in service delivery.

Ann is obsessive about proper regulation and risk management. She holds the position of COLP, Risk Management Partner and DPO, supported by a Risk Management Team. She is also responsible for managing the firm’s relationship with the SRA.

Ann has a passion for the development of young people and is co vice-chair of the governing board at Wigan & Leigh College. She is also heavily involved in the recruitment of trainee solicitors and the development of potential Partners within Stephensons

Ann is also passionate about access to justice and is very keen to ensure that the firm is able to provide products which suit the needs of all of our clients with a range of funding options wherever possible, including fixed fees, conditional fee agreements, legal expense insurance and legal aid.

In addition to funding options the firm has developed a range of products to assist our clients, both individuals and business owners. These products include Workplace Plus, to assist firms with their HR and employment needs and Carry on Driving, to assist motorists.

Ann also takes overall responsibility for driving the firms corporate social responsibility activities, including our pro bono unit and our various charitable events.
