Women in Business Award for leading fraud lawyer

Stephensons' Head of Regulatory Law has received a top business award recognising her contribution to the legal profession.

Rachel Adamson, based at the firm's Wigan office, was named 'Best Legal Advisor' at the Downtown Lancashire Women In Business Awards 2016. The annual event celebrates outstanding achievement by businesswomen across Lancashire and the North West with a particular focus on contributions towards strategic business growth, exceeding the expectations of clients and raising the profile of their organisation.

The judges recognised the highly sensitive nature of the work carried out by Rachel and her department, her position as a trusted expert in serious fraud cases - especially in land-banking, Ponzi and boiler room fraud - and her growing profile in the national media, having appeared as an expert on ITV's daytime series, Judge Rinder's Crime Stories. She has also recently appeared in the Wall Street Journal and the Independent.

Rachel's regulatory knowledge is regularly in demand by industry professionals and she is often invited to speak at leading conferences for the nursing and residential care, dental and education sectors.

Since joining Stephensons in 2010, Rachel has built a nationally renowned fraud practice of 21 specialists – the largest in the North West.

Stephensons’ Chairwoman, Ann Harrison said: "This is a tremendous accolade for Rachel and Stephensons which acts as a testament to the skill and hard work she has brought to the firm.

"Not only is Rachel an excellent solicitor - representing clients in a wide range of complex and highly-sensitive cases - she is also an excellent advocate for the firm and her expertise is in demand by industry leaders and the media alike.

"All of us are incredibly proud of her achievements and wish to congratulate her on a thoroughly deserved award."
