The 2016 edition of Legal 500 ranks Stephensons as outstanding in crime and fraud work as well as recommending five other practice areas, 15 solicitors and partners across the firm.
In the 2016 edition Stephensons has received commendations in the areas of professional discipline, clinical negligence, fraud, crime, local government, court of protection and housing law.
The firm’s crime and fraud teams received the highest possible top tier ranking. The guide says: “Stephensons Solicitors LLP’s team is noted for its skill at handling serious fraud and regulatory cases and for its niche expertise in tachograph fraud. Rachel Adamson ‘is a keen strategist’ and is recommended alongside John Greenwood (‘there is nothing he does not know about serious fraud litigation’) and ‘incredibly bright’ solicitor Priscilla Addo-Quaye.
Correna Platt is rated for her criminal appeal work and Michael Pemberton ‘knows the Supreme Court in the way that most solicitors know their local Magistrates Court’”.
Head of Litigation Louise Griffiths was noted as well regarded in the field of clinical negligence and Head of Clinical Negligence Judith Thomas-Whittingham as knowledgeable.
Also mentioned were “tenacious” court of protection Associate Melanie Varey, “tough but sensible” professional discipline Partner Carl Johnson, family Partner Donna Roberts, Head of Employment Philip Richardson, Head of Real Estate David Baybut, commercial property Partner Kate Bullen and Head of Regulatory and Criminal Justice Sean Joyce.
Andrew Welch, Managing Partner at Stephensons, said: “Once again, the Legal 500 illustrates our continued success in delivering outstanding service to our clients and fellow professionals.
“It is particularly encouraging to see the hard work of our crime and fraud departments recognised with first tier rankings, while the work of our social housing team – submitting for the first time - was recognised with a third tier ranking.”
The Legal 500 is the definitive guide to the legal profession and each year its researchers undertake stringent research into the industry. The independent guide recommends law firms for their expertise by ranking them in tiers and also highlights any outstanding legal professionals.
Stephensons is a national, full service law firm with ten offices across the country.
