Stephensons raises over £6000 for Derian House Hospice

The national law firm, Stephensons has marked the end of 12 months of fundraising for its Charity of the Year, Derian House Hospice. Over the course of 12 months, through a range of fundraising activities, the firm has raised more than £6,000 for the charity.

Derian House Hospice, which was chosen as Charity of the Year by Stephensons staff in 2018, provides specialist palliative, respite and end of life care to children and young people with life shortening conditions and helps to support their families. The charity covers the whole of Lancashire and the South Lakes and currently provides specialist care to more than 300 families and bereavement support for a further 200 families.

Stephensons’ Charity of the Year initiative sees staff from across the firm taking part in fundraising and volunteering activity for the chosen charity across a full twelve months. In previous years, the firm has raised tens-of-thousands of pounds in support of local and national organisations, with staff taking part in everything from dress-down-days, to bake sales, marathons and 10k runs.

Susie Poppitt, Head of Fundraising at Derian House said: “We’re delighted to have been the charity of choice for the staff and management of Stephensons over the past twelve months. Everyone at the firm has worked incredibly hard to raise funds for the hospice, and it has been a partnership in every sense of the word, with Stephensons taking a major role in the Legacy and Inheritance Tax Planning seminar organised by the fundraising team at Derian House in 2018.

“A huge thank you to everyone at Stephensons for all their efforts in raising such a fantastic amount of money!”

Stephensons Chairwoman, Ann Harrison, added: “Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen first-hand the incredible work Derian House Hospice does day in, day out in supporting children and their families through the most challenging circumstances.

“Our staff, as ever, have been the driving force behind a range of fundraising activities over the past twelve months and we are delighted to be able to assist Derian House Hospice in helping them to continue their excellent work.”
