Brat pack dances their way to London

Brat Pack, an all-female dance troupe from Tyldesley, is travelling to London this weekend to take part in a celebration of dance at the Royal Albert Hall.

The group of 12, which includes girls from 12-18 years old from the 180 Dance & Fitness Centre, will travel to London on Saturday to participate in On Show, a magical afternoon of dance which only happens once every five years and will include 900 performers from 27 different dance disciplines.

The show will demonstrate the strength and diversity of movement and dance in the UK in a way which few others can.

As part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of CCPR (Central Council of Physical Recreation), the alliance of the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation, its movement and dance members will showcase their enormous talents at the Royal Albert Hall.

Brat Pack will be performing a freestyle routine as part of the event before taking part in a grand finale with the 900 performers on stage together.

Jane Jones, from Astley, is the mother of one of the performers. She said: “I don’t think the girls have a proper understanding of the sheer scale of the Royal Albert Hall and how many people they will be performing to. To be invited to take part in the show is a credit to the girls, and it’s going to be a magical day for all involved.”

The journey to London has been supported by Jane’s employer Stephensons Solicitors LLP, which has donated £400 towards the travel expenses.

Jane added: “It’s costing each family in excess of £150 to go to London so the financial boost from Stephensons has really helped us. We’re really grateful for their support.”

Andrew Leakey, a Partner at Stephensons and head of the firms’ CSR group, said: “We are always keen to support local projects and Brat Pack’s journey to London is a very worthy cause because it promotes a healthier lifestyle in the community. We would like to wish Brat Pack good luck for what is going to be a very memorable occasion.”
