Stephensons Solicitors LLP has been awarded a prestigious contract with the Legal Services Commission (LSC) which makes the firm the only one in St Helens able to provide publicly funded legal help to people with Debt, Housing and Welfare Benefits problems. We can also advise on Employment problems and Community Care.
The law firm undertook a very challenging tender process, which resulted in Stephensons being awarded over 3,000 ‘matter starts’ to help people in these areas of law during the next 12 months.
Stephensons has been providing legal advice to the St Helens community for more than 20 years and this new contract will enable the legal specialists at St Helens to help many more.
Andrew Leakey, Managing Partner of Social Welfare at Stephensons, said: “Stephensons has always been committed to the provision of legal aid to enable all parts of the community to access justice, and this new contract allows us to help just short of 3,400 local people with legal problems in the fields of employment, community care, debt, housing issues and welfare benefits problems.
“The contract means we are the only service provider in St Helens who can offer legal aid for these types of cases. It will facilitate our continuing ability to help members of the public irrespective of their financial circumstances with clear and easy to understand legal advice.”
