Subarachnoid haemorrhage claims

A subarachnoid haemorrhage is a type of stroke which can lead to significant brain damage and can be fatal. This rupture of a brain aneurysm can sometimes be misdiagnosed, particularly in accident and emergency departments, or not treated adequately by doctors and health professionals. If an aneurysm is detected early, and prior to it rupturing, then you may be able to undergo a procedure which will prevent long term damage.

If you do pursue a claim we will, with the help of our experts, gather evidence to support our case to secure the compensation you need to enable current and future care. What is a subarachnoid haemorrhage?

A subarachnoid haemorrhage is an uncommon type of stroke caused by bleeding on the surface of the brain and accounts for one in every 20 strokes in the UK. There are normally no warning signs and if you suspect someone is having a subarachnoid haemorrhage call for an ambulance immediately. Subarachnoid haemorrhage symptoms include:

  • An agonising headache that is like a blinding pain
  • Stiff neck
  • Feeling or being sick
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Slurred speech, weakness on one side of the body and other stroke like symptoms
  • Loss of consciousness or uncontrollable shaking

While we know compensation can’t change all of the difficulties that a person who has suffered from a subarachnoid haemorrhage may face, it may help to improve their quality of life by covering the cost of current and future care, and changes to accommodation and equipment. It may also help family members of those who have passed away to meet the costs that occur when a person dies.
