Get started online - family law

We are delighted to be able to offer our family law clients access to Settify, a secure online system, which enables you to provide our team with all the information they need before an appointment with you.

We understand that our clients are often contacting us during what is a difficult time in their lives and can often find gathering the information needed and speaking about the sensitive details upsetting. Settify allows you to provide the particulars, and the sometimes sensitive information about your case, from the comfort of your own home and at any time of day. You will be asked questions which are personalised to you and your circumstances to enable our expert team to focus on finding the best way forward for you and your family. You can come back to the questions as and when you want to if you do not have the time to fill everything in at once or if you need to take a break.

Using Settify means that our solicitors can have all the details of your case and be up to speed with your circumstances before they see or speak to you. Your initial appointment can then be used to discuss the next steps available to find the best solution for you rather than gathering this information, saving time and money.

There will be no cost to Stephensons’ clients when using the tool if Stephensons are instructed by you. If you do choose to use this tool you will save money in the long run as your first appointment will not be taken up by collating the information we need to evaluate your case. If we are unfortunately not able to take your case on for any reason Settify will find another law firm suitable for your needs and pass the information you have already provided to them if you wish to instruct them.

Frequently asked questions

How will using this service help me with my divorce?

By answering a series of questions and answers, you will receive guidance at each step specific to your circumstances. This allows you to be informed right from the outset of the process. Traditionally, we would need to ask you to bring a lot of information to an appointment with us and we would need to go through this with you. It is often the case that people do not have all the information at the time of an appointment and they need to then go back and send us information sometimes in a piecemeal way. This can incur more time and cost. With Settify, you can collate all the information at a time and place convenient to you, saving your information as you go on, adding to it as needed.

There are a lot of questions it seem quite time intensive, would I need to provide all the information in a meeting with you?

There is a series of screens to go through and you can save and return it at any point. We would require the same information in a meeting with you. If you provide this in a meeting this can take a lot longer.

What if my partner has already appointed you?

Unfortunately not be able to act for you, therefore Settify will then see if you would like another firm to assist you and pass them the information you have already provided.

Is there a cost implication with using this service?

There is no cost implication associated with using this service for clients.

How will you use the information I provide?

We will look at your information in advance of an appointment. Like you we receive a word document with all your information in and a financial summary in excel.  We will need to check the details of some of the information. However, having the information prior to meeting with you allows us to focus on the key issues for you.

How can I be assured that my data is secure?

The security of your personal data is very important to us. We will ensure that we have in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to personal data.

If you can’t help me will I have to complete the information again?

We will pass your case back to Settify who will try and locate another firm who can assist.
