Flight delay & cancellation compensation claims

If your flight has been cancelled or overbooked and you have been inconvenienced as a result contact the expert flight delay and cancellation compensation claims solicitors at Stephensons today on 0203 816 9314.

Thanks to a Supreme Court ruling, those passengers who have fallen victim to flight delays or cancellations are now able to make compensation claims against the airlines responsible.

This is a welcome result as around 2.3 million passengers are delayed due to aircraft faults and overbooking every year.

The EC Regulation 261 of 2004 states that all passengers must be compensated financially in the instance that their flight has been cancelled or overbooked. Despite this ruling airlines will often just try to state that your claim is not valid or ignore you entirely, leaving you feeling like you have no avenue to pursue compensation. This is simply not the case.

Stephensons can help you claim the compensation you deserve.

Claiming compensation against an airline

Claiming compensation against an airline can be a particularly laborious and frustrating process. With this in mind the solicitors at Stephensons can make a compensation claim on your behalf with minimal interaction from yourself.

When you make a flight delay or cancellation compensation claim, your solicitor will collect as much evidence as possible to support your claim, this will include referencing everything from data on weather conditions at the time to any technical faults the plane may have had. This is to ensure that we have every detail necessary to increase the chances of a positive outcome.

How much flight compensation can I claim?

The following compensation amounts are a guideline as to how much compensation passengers can claim. Compensation claims will vary on length of delay as well as length of flight but are not affected by the cost of the ticket itself.

  • Flights delayed less than 3 hours - €0
  • Flights delayed more than 3 hours and up to 1,500km - €250
  • Flights delayed more than 3 hours and between 1,500km – 3,500km or between 2 EU Member States - €400
  • Flights delayed between 3-4 hours and over 3,500km - €300
  • Flights delayed more than 4 hours and over 3,500km - €600

What should I do next?

Gather as much evidence as possible about your delayed flight including:

  • Flight number
  • Dates of flight
  • Time delayed
  • Expenses incurred as a result of the delay such as food, hotels etc.

Contact the flight claims experts at Stephensons as soon as possible where we will file an initial complaint letter on your behalf and pursue the claim.

It is highly likely that your airline will seek to negate your flight compensation claim by stating that the delay was due to extraordinary circumstances if you file a compensation claim on your own. However a flight compensation claim as directed by our expert solicitors will have a greater chance of success.

For advice on a possible flight compensation claim please contact our team of consumer dispute solicitors on 0203 816 9314 or complete our online enquiry form and a member of the team will make contact with you.
