Why did you choose a career at Stephensons?

I was first introduced to Stephensons during my time studying for the LPC. A number of firms came into talk to my year; Nick Hodson attended on behalf of Stephensons. After taking the opportunity to speak with Nick afterwards it became immediately apparent how enthusiastic Stephensons were about their employees. Having researched a number of firms, a lot were naturally very focussed on how I could develop the firm. It was nice to hear Nick talk about how Stephensons could help me develop as well.

I wanted to work for a firm that would support and encourage me along my career and provide me with the early responsibility to grow as an individual. This was a reoccurring theme that came across when I spoke with both current and old employees, and this is why I chose my career at Stephensons.

What is the best thing about your job?

In costings I get to work on a variety of files and liaise with a variety of people. I really enjoy the fact that one minute I can be doing something in relation to costs from an opponent and then I can be having a discussion with the Legal Aid Agency - every day is a different experience.

I work closely with so many colleagues all around the firm - ranging from clerks to senior partners; everyone works together to get the best possible result, and I love that!

I deal with case plans all the way through, from drafting the same to dealing with any queries that the Legal Aid Agency have. Case plans involve very large costs and so I really enjoy the fact that I have the responsibility and ownership of these.

Why would you recommend a career at Stephensons?

Stephensons has a great 'family feel'; despite having so many different offices and so many employees at varying levels, everyone gets so involved and seeks to help any colleagues in any way they can.

There is definitely the chance to progress within your career (many of the Partners started doing their training contracts here!) Stephensons really invest in their employees and it is evident from the amount of people that have long standing careers with the firm.

If you want a career with an ever growing firm, in which you will be given the responsibility and support to grow as an individual, then I would definitely recommend Stephensons!

Describe Stephensons in three words:

Encouraging, approachable and successful.
